Ellen Fleurov

Ellen Fleurov, juror of Out of the South 2005Ellen Fleurov is the president and founder of "Crossroads Traveling Exhibitions" (www.crossroads-exhibitions.com), an Atlanta-based company that organizes and tours exhibitions to museums and cultural venues internationally. She also consults with museums, cultural and civic organizations in the areas of cultural communications, strategic planning, project management and exhibition/event planning. Current and former clients include The Public Art Commission, City of Escondido, CA; Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego; Tubman African American Museum, Macon, GA; the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Santa Barbara, CA, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

From 1993 to 1998, Fleurov was the curator of photography at the High Museum of Art.

She then served as Director of the Museum at the California Center for the Arts in San Diego from 1998 to 2001. The following year, she brought to Southern California “Here is New York: A Democracy of Photographs,” the acclaimed exhibition of 500 photographs in remembrance of the first anniversary of September 11.

Ellen Fleurov has curated over fifty exhibitions for museums on both coasts and is the author of numerous books and articles, including "Second Sight: The Photographs of Edward Sturr, 1961-1970" (2002); "No Sun Without Shadow: The Art of Harry Sternberg" (2000); "Walker Evans Simple Secrets: Photographs from the Collection of Marian and Benjamin A. Hill Collection" (1997); "Ralph Gibson/Light Years: Recent Gifts from the Kuniansky Family Collection" (1997); "Picturing the South, 1860 to the Present" (1996) and "This Sporting Life, 1878-1991" (1992).
