Opening Photos
Curated byChip Simone and Martin Krohne
This show explores new ways of thinking about photography. Photographic approaches range from the use of traditional color photography to an elaborate, interactive installation.
Juror's statement available as a PDF file.
Two artists break the bounds of traditional white mats and black frames, creating works that establish their own presence. David Habercom provides a context in which to view his portraits of the homeless. H. Jennings Sheffield introduces interactivity into photographic presentation.
Other photographers challenge our ideas from within the frame.
Jazmin Mier challenges our assumptions about the benevolence of media aimed at children in her disturbing series "Mental Molestation."
Sam Saghatelian will change the way you look at food the next time you sit down to eat.
Rachel Cseszko takes us to another world, somewhere between our waking life and the subconscious. She does it just with a camera, subject and lights.
Mary Tuggle takes the possibility of digital imagery to another level with intelligence, wit, and charm.
Lily Smernou's quiet photographs hide worlds of subversive thought behind simple collections of ordinary objects.
Come to our new gallery for an experience you won't soon forget.
